Use the 5iTech PDF compressor to reduce PDF file size without installing desktop software. It is designed for PDFs that contain scanned pages, photographs, screenshots and other large images.

How to compress a PDF

  1. Choose your PDF or drag it into the upload area.
  2. Select Light, Balanced, Strong or Maximum compression.
  3. Choose the image resolution if you want additional control.
  4. Click Compress PDF.
  5. Review the original and compressed sizes, then download the result.

Why a PDF may not become much smaller

PDF compression depends on what is inside the document. Scanned and image-heavy PDFs usually have more opportunity for size reduction. Text-only PDFs, vector drawings and PDFs that are already optimized may show little reduction. The tool reports the actual output size instead of promising a fixed percentage.

Privacy-focused PDF compression

This tool performs compression inside your browser. The PDF bytes are processed on your device rather than being sent to a 5iTech upload server. Browser-based processing can use significant memory and CPU for very large PDFs, so your device and browser may affect processing time.
