How to create a barcode online
Creating a barcode with 5iTech is designed to be a short workflow:

Barcode customization and printing
Customization should improve fit and usability without making the symbol harder to scan. The 5iTech tool provides controls for supported height, bar width, foreground/background colors and human-readable text.
Use strong contrast
Black bars on a light background are the safest starting point. Avoid low-contrast combinations, busy backgrounds and decorative effects that interfere with the quiet zone or bar edges.
Choose the right output

Do not shrink a barcode blindly
The correct physical size depends on the symbology, data length, scanner and applicable specifications. For business-critical or standards-based labels, follow the requirements of the organization or system receiving the barcode.

Barcode accuracy, check digits and standards
Some barcode formats use check digits to detect common data-entry or transmission errors. A barcode generator can calculate or validate format-specific values, but that does not automatically make a number an officially assigned product identifier.
EAN-13 and UPC-A
Retail identifiers have specific numbering and check-digit rules. If a retailer, marketplace or standards organization requires a registered identifier, use the identifier issued through the appropriate standards process.
Code 128 and internal identifiers

Privacy and browser-side processing
The current 5iTech barcode generator is designed to generate codes in the browser using JavaScript libraries. For the normal generation flow, your entered barcode data is processed on the page rather than submitted to a dedicated 5iTech barcode-generation server.
Even with local processing, users should avoid entering confidential information into any public online tool unless their organization’s security policy permits it. For sensitive enterprise workflows, use an approved internal generator.
Barcode Generator vs. QR Code Generator
Traditional 1D barcodes and QR codes solve different problems. A 1D barcode is usually a strong choice for compact identifiers that will be scanned in a retail, inventory or logistics workflow. A QR code is a 2D symbol and is better suited to data such as URLs or other supported two-dimensional use cases.
